K4 leads Mardi Gras with a bang! As always, our K4 students and teachers led the whole school in a splendid Mardi Gras parade in the school parking lot (finally, nice weather!) Check out these pictures of our Krewe members in their floats. Thanks to all those parents (and grandparents?) who created such masterpieces for us to admire, to the special guests who joined us (Bishop Michael Duca is pictured below, tossing beasds),and to our Middle School Mardi Gras Court for braving the chilly morning in their Mardi Gras best!

K4 not the only ones who celebrate Mardi Gras! Daisy Troop 125 celebrated the Mardi Gras season by making their own floats, and had the best time doing it!. They are displayed in the Library for all to see. They really are beautiful!

The current school guidelines for outside recess are as follows: Recess is an integral part of the school day. Time spent outside affords children a break from the structure of the classroom. We want our students to be comfortable in the school setting. Students will go outside for recess when the temperature is 45 degrees or above. (Wind chill factors will be taken into consideration.) Teachers will monitor the “Feels Like” temperature at weather.com to determine whether recess will be inside or outside. Muddy or wet playground conditions will remain a factor to be considered when determining outside recess. Please make sure students are properly attired for outside recess. Due to time constraints on early dismissal and Mass days, recess may be inside. If you have further questions, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

Scholarship fund begun for daughter of former SJS teacher  Connie Beauclair, a teacher who worked in the Learning Center for many years at SJS, lost her daughter, Margaret, very suddenly last week. Margaret left behind a precious 4 year old daughter, Susie. It was Margaret and Tom’s, her husband, wish that Susie be enrolled in our K4 program for the Fall of 2012-13. To assist with this dream, we are going to start a scholarship fund for Susie in Margaret’s name. Any donations made at Margaret’s memorial service on Tuesday or any other donations will be earmarked for Susie’s tuition.

An Asbestos Management Plan has been developed to prevent the asbestos from becoming a hazard, and you may find this document on file in the school office.
