We have the most exciting news for you!! We now have access to a huge database called Infotrac. It contains tons of information on just about anything you or your student(s) would need to research. There are places to access information for all age groups, too. You can use encyclopedias, dictionaries, magazines, journals, etc. You may print out anything you need. Just use the "Help" button if you need it, or contact us and we will try to help. The URL is http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/lap09sjs ; this will take you to the Infotrac's page. You will be prompted for a remote access password. Type in the word falcons . This will take you to the databases.
We also have access to World Book Online. The URL is http://www.worldbookonline.com/wb/Home . The username, if you are prompted for it, is the word caddo , and the password is the word parish . This site offers World Book Online for older students and one for younger students, a dictionary, a Spanish encyclopedia, etc.
Please make use of these wonderful research tools for your students. They are offered free to all Louisiana schools through our state legislature and your tax dollars, so we need to use them. Just get to these databases, and have fun surfing around. You'll see things you've never seen before!
Please remember that you can access a list of our over 3,000 AR quiz titles with the Book Levels and number of points on our TeacherWeb site. It can be accessed through the school's web site by clicking on the "Student Life" button on the browser. Then, click on "Class Websites". When that site comes up, click on the "Library" link. This will take you to the Library's website. Scroll down to the last icon which says "AR quiz list". Click on it, and then on the link which will read, "Quiz Info" and a date and then on "open". This will take a few minutes to download because there are over 3,000 quizzes listed, don't give up. The list will come up! One thing that I forgot to mention is that the list opens in Microsoft Word.
It is a great help in that your students can see if they have any of these books at home which are at their level. If they do, it is fine for them to read that book and take a quiz on it at school. Or, if you want to buy a book for them, you can see if it is on our quiz list, and they could enjoy the book and then take a quiz on it. |
| Community Coffee product bar code labels are being collected for the St. Joseph School library. We have done this for a few years now, and we do earn money to help keep us going. Please, clip and send in the bar code labels, which are mailed in to be counted. We are competing with other local schools, both public and private, so we need your labels to help us win for our area. We did very well last year. In fact, we collected the most labels. It takes a lot of labels to make any money at all. We really do need your help, so that we can earn even more money! |
